International travel is not only an exciting and fascinating
experience, it can be perceived as a dynamic school in which
knowledge is accumulated through contact with other peoples,
places, and cultures. In addition, travel is an opportunity
to promote tolerance and understanding among people of different
races, cultures, and nations.
This field trip provides teachers and students with the framework
to study other countries and cultures from a personal perspective
while incorporating a variety of subject areas such as reading,
writing, math, and social studies (including geography, history
and economics) into their virtual field trip.
Resources
and project strategies
Use of the internet to study other countries and cultures provides
a wealth of resources including maps, photos, interactive activities,
and even audio and video clips. Students can work individually,
in small groups, or as a class to research and design their own
"virtual tour" of an exotic foreign land. You can order
TourMaker from our store.
